The Wheels Through Time Museum is for Every Motorcycle Enthusiast

Wheels Through Time museumWhen it comes to the simple joys in life, there is one that is universal, feeling the wind on your skin and blow through your hair. This little thing is enjoyed by humans and dogs alike from young ones to older ones, there is nothing like feeling the wind on you. This is one of the reasons many enjoy riding a motorcycle. There is a thrill that comes along with owning and riding a motorcycle that some understand and some don’t. Sure there is a certain danger to it all and for some that danger is all a part of the fun. For most who love motorcycles, they also enjoy learning about the history of them as well. When guests come to visit us at The Orchard Inn, we love giving them advice on how they should spend their time here. One day trip we recommend is to take a drive to Maggie Valley and stop at the the Wheels Through Time museum. Not familiar with this amazing attraction? Here is everything you need to know.

Founded in 1993 by Dale Walksler, the Wheels Through Time museum is one of the top places to go to learn and discover all about American motorcycle history. The museum itself holds over 300 displays of rare and historically classic all-American motorcycles. Some of the motorcycles that you will see on your tour are, Harley-Davidson, Indian, Excelsior, Henderson, and more. While you will marvel at the big named motorcycles, there are other types of bikes that are featured here as well. Some other interesting displays are original paint machines, board track racers, American Dirt Track racing, and choppers and bobbers.

The Wheels Through Time museum is open from 9 to 5 Thursdays through Mondays. Admission is a steal at adults for $12, Seniors (65+) for $10, and Kids at $6. While you are there, be sure to check out their store. They have shirts and souvenirs for everyone in the family. Also, be sure to enter their raffle. Every year, the Wheels Through Time museum raffles off a bike. This raffle serves many purposes. The first being, to bring about awareness and education about classic motorcycles, the second purpose is to raise money for the museum, and the last purpose is because it is fun. This year, they are raffling off not one, but 2 Harley-Davidson Flathead Bobbers. These 2 bikes have been beautifully restored using original components and a custom paint scheme from the 1930’s. This is one of the many events that the Wheels Through Time museum is a part of. Be sure to check out their events page to see what other events are on their calendar.
