An Adventure on The Gorge Zipline
There are plenty of fun adventures to take in the western North Carolina Mountains, but one of our favorites is The Gorge Zipline. It’s known as the fastest and steepest zipline in the country and promises an exhilarating addition to your summer adventure. The Gorge Zipline takes you on a soaring adventure over the lush canopy of the Green River Gorge. The Gorge Zipline features 11 different ziplines over the course of 1.25 miles, plunging 1,100 feet throughout the adventure.
Unlike some ziplines, the braking system at The Gorge Zipline is operated exclusively by the highly-trained Canopy Guides, so you don’t have to worry about how fast you’re going or when you need to slow down. You can just sit back, relax, and let the adrenaline course through your veins! Of course, don’t forget to look around, either. You’ll be soaring over 18,000 protected acres of stunning Old-Growth forest.
In addition to the 11 ziplines, you’ll conquer three different rappelling stations and walk over a beautiful sky bridge. This unparalleled vantage point offers a unique perspective on the area’s natural beauty, making The Gorge Zipline an unforgettable highlight of any visit to the mountains.
To participate in the fun with The Gorge Zipline, participants need to be between 70 – 250 pounds. Though a harness will hold the weight of your body, you should still be in reasonably good shape to participate in this activity. It does involve a little bit of hiking to get to the platforms. You can expect the total treetop adventure to take somewhere between three to three and a half hours.
