January Events

Asheville Restaurant Week

Asheville Restaurant Week is one of the most highly anticipated events in Asheville! The area is home to approximately 250 independent restaurants, 20 regional tailgate markets, and many craft breweries. The majority of restaurants in Asheville embrace the key tenants of farm-to-table dining. There’s a strong commitment to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, making Asheville one of the top ten food and wine destinations in the United States. In late January, you can dine at a vast array of restaurants on a prix fixe menu ranging from just $15-$30 per person.

The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival

Starting in Edinburgh, Scotland, after a group of artists were excluded from a “mainstream” art show, “Fringe” explores the Avant-Garde and the experimental providing expression and inclusion for all art. The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival “continues to ask artists to explore the edges of their work, to collaborate across genres and to bring new and innovative performances to culturally adventurous audiences.” Make sure you see more than one show for the whole “Fringe” experience!

Asheville Gun & Knife Show

Held at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, the Asheville Gun & Knife Show is hosted by Mike Kent and Associates of North Carolina. This event traditionally takes place in early January and is a fantastic event for collectors, historians, and enthusiasts. Admission is $8 for adults, and children under 12 get in free. Please keep in mind all Federal, state, and local firearm ordinances and laws must be obeyed.

“I spent three hours walking around and looking before I bought what I was looking for. Many great choices and options, good comradery and much fun was had by all!”
