Orchard Inn’s Favorite Western NC Events

Coon Dog Day coon dog day

Coon Dog Day takes place every year on a Saturday in July, usually towards the beginning of the month. This annual festival celebrates this beloved dog breed with music, food, a parade, and even the crowning of a Coon Dog Day King and Queen! Plus, Orchard Inn is located about a mile from the festival, so it’s the perfect place to stay.

Top of the Grade Concerts

Each summer, there are 5 Top of the Grade Concerts at McCreery Park in downtown Saluda. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, then set up and enjoy the show! We recommend bringing snacks and a bottle of wine to enjoy as you take in the music, or you can walk to a restaurant downtown after.

Biltmore Summer Concert Series Top of the Grade Concerts

About 40 minutes from Orchard Inn, you can experience the gorgeous venue at the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. At the Biltmore Summer Concert Series, you can see big names grace the stage such as the Goo Goo Dolls, The Beach Boys, Tony Bennett, REO Speedwagon, and more. Here, you can watch the sun set over the mountains as you enjoy the music.

Saluda Arts Festival

The Saluda Arts Festival has become a springtime tradition in Western North Carolina. Thousands of people gather each May to celebrate the art and culture of the small town of Saluda! More than 80 artists and crafters set up their booths with paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculptures, and more. It’s the perfect place to find something unique!

The Garden Jubilee Festival

Located in our neighboring town of Hendersonville, the Garden Jubilee Festival draws more than 20,000 people to the area, making it one of the most popular Western NC events on our list! At this festival, garden enthusiasts and those wanting to learn more about the art of landscaping can buy nearly every plant available while learning tips and tricks from regional gardening experts.

Taste of Asheville taste of asheville

Looking for food-related Western NC events? You will love the Taste of Asheville! Enjoy some time in the city when you attend this fundraiser. Every year, dozens of Asheville restaurants come together to showcase their best dishes. It’s the best way to truly get a taste of Asheville!

CiderFest NC

Welcome the fall season the right way when you come to CiderFest NC! There’s nothing better than sampling cider in the crisp autumn air. Every October, cider makers from all over the state gather together so you can sample more than 50 varieties of cider, mead, and apple wines!

NC Mountain State Fair

The NC Mountain State Fair is one of the best fall Western NC events! Fair food, live music, acrobatics, and a 45,000 square foot shopping area combine to make this festival one to remember.

Asheville Brewgrass FestivalEnjoy fresh NC apples at the Hendersonville Apple Festival

If you love craft beer, you will be estatic about the Asheville Brewgrass Festival. Regional breweries come from near and far to provide festival goers with samples of expertly crafted brews. Our favorite part of this Western NC event is that most of the proceeds go to support the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Western North Carolina.

The Hendersonville Apple Festival

Every Labor Day weekend for the past 60+ years, locals and visitors flock to downtown Hendersonville for their annual Apple Festival. This street fair is set up for 4 days; you can enjoy vendors, live entertainment, delicious food, and more!
