This event happens every night, rain or shine, including holidays through December 31st. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is not just a light show, it’s a light show combined with some of the best holiday songs. The technicians who work on the lights uses only state of the art equipment to perfectly sync the lights and the music. In the end of January the 13th annual Asheville Fringe Arts Festival. This festival celebrates the outer edges of art in any sort of medium. While most of the country will be obsessed with March Madness, we in Western NC love March for another reason, amazing concerts. On March 17th at 8pm at the Diana Wortham Theater, Hsin-Yun Huang & Brentano will be filling your ears and soul with some of the best classical music. Huang will be on violin and has quickly become one of the top violinists of her generation and has won many awards and has worked with international superstars like Yo-Yo Ma and and Menahem Pressler. Accompanying her is the Brentano String Quartet who also have taken the world by storm and have performed all over the world. This concert is the start of Asheville’s Amadeus Festival and is a highlight of the spring events in Asheville, NC.
The last of our events in Asheville, NC that we want to mention is an ongoing Asheville Food Swap. Since our town is full of delicious food on farms as well as people who love amazing food, it’s easy to see why so many would love to share the extra they have. From November until June, on Sunday’s from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, this food swap happens. This is a wonderful time for other farmers, bakers, and whoever, to trade and barter for goods. This is a cash free event that one of the only requirements is that your goods yourself, either by cooking it, growing it, or foraging for it. This is also a great time for the community to get together and meet others who are interested in eating local, sustainable foods.
