An amazing photo is something that is cherished for years. Having the right eye to make that kind of photo takes a true talent. Even with that talent, it has to be practiced and cultivated over time. Most photographers spend at least a weekend a year at a photographer’s conference to learn new skills and techniques that will make their photos pop. This fall will be the 5th Annual Western North Carolina Foto Fest conference in September. When planning a trip away from home, the top decision on everyone’s list is where to stay. Instead of staying at a hotel, why not plan on staying at The Orchard Inn. Located in Saluda, the Inn will make your time away a relaxing and informative one.
North Carolina photography will never be the same after this year’s Western North Carolina Foto Fest. This is the 5th year that Kevin Adams and Bill Lea have pulled out all the stops to make this a remarkable event. The fest will run September 11-14 and registration is $165 and will be located at the Montreat Conference Center.
The speakers for this North Carolina photography conference will help you master your technique and add a personal flair to your education. These guest speakers are, Clay Bolt, Joel Collins, Tom Vadnais, Jared Lloyd, Kevin Fitz Patrick, Bob Child, Michael Skinner, Mary Presson Roberts, and Lorraine Shannon. Along with these amazing speakers, there are some new exciting events for this year. Those include a Thursday afternoon light painting workshop, Friday morning photo shoot at Chimney Rock State Park, 3 birds of prey photo shoots, and a special beginner’s photography workshop. There are some features that are so good that they have to stay every year. Some of those would be, a Thursday night light painting photo shoot with Kevin Adams, Friday morning sunrise shoot on the Blue Parkway, and great door prizes.
A North Carolina photography conference wouldn’t be complete without a contest. Make sure you turn in your submissions well before the event. Unlike most contests, the winner gets an amazing prize. They get a canvas print of their winning photo which will also be displayed throughout the conference for all students to see. There are 6 categories that photos can be submitted to. They are, landscape, black and white tones, wildlife, close up, hand of man, and anything goes. A winner will be chosen from each category as well as the best show and each of them gets a canvas print.
After early mornings and late nights spent working on your new photo tricks, the best thing to do is get the best night’s sleep. That will definitely happen at The Orchard Inn. The owners are the masters of southern hospitality and service. The Inn has a room for every group size and budget ranging from single rooms to cottages for bigger groups. Not only is the Inn relaxing but it is in a beautiful location which is ideal for some shoots of your own. This Western NC bed and breakfast is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is a dream for North Carolina photography. Contact them today to book your room or cottage in time for the Foto Fest.
