This year’s race will be capped at 1,100 10K runners, so you’ll want to sign up in advance. You’ll receive a stylish, long-sleeve shirt, and the race will be followed by entertainment and a steaming cup of hot cocoa. You may even want two!
Time chipped by Right on Time Productions, the race will begin at 8:55 a.m. and will start and finish in front of the new Isaac Dickson Elementary School at 90 Montford Avenue. The course will be certified. Here’s a look at the turn by turn:
- Race will start and finish inside the school bus lane in at 90 Montford Ave.
- Runners will take an immediate right and travel down Hill St.
- Left on Riverside Drive – travel past 12 Bones and continue on Lyman St.
- Turn around (U-turn) on Lyman St. near (before) Amboy bridge (before stop light)
- Right turn on Old Lyman St. for a short in and out.
- Right turn on Lyman St. and continue back to Hill St.
- Right on Hill St.
- Left on Cortland
- Right on Houston
- Right on Courtland
- Right on Montford to finish in front of the new IDES on Montford in bus lane.
You can pick up your race packet (including your long sleeve shirt and timing race bib) on Thursday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. at Harmony Motors. There will be chocolate tasting, music and fancy cars to check out! If you can’t make it Thursday, you can also get your packet Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the school. This coincides with the Learning Garden Pasta Dinner. It’s $5.50 per adult with up to two kids eating free per adult, or $2.25 per child. Feed a family of six for just $11! Finally, your last opportunity to grab your packet will be on the morning of the race from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Registration will take place in the 3rd/4th grade hallway of the school. Make sure you get there early!
There will be four water stations set up at the Hot Chocolate 10K, and additional water at the finish. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners that finish overall, as well as the first two male and female runners in the Masters Division (40+). Other awards will go to the top three finishers in several other age groups, including: 14&U, 15-19, 20-24, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, and 85 and over. The awards ceremony will start at 11 a.m. There will be awards for the 1K Hill Climb and Marshmallow Dash as well.
