About Eliada

Eliada is a staple in our community and does so much for our local children. Their main goal is to help children succeed. This can be taken care of in so many ways. For some children, it’s simply attending their school. By going to their school instead of a public one, their needs can be met easily. Some, however, require a bit more care. This is when children live at their facility. This is best for children dealing with trauma or is in need of specialized care.

Eliada History

The story behind Eliada is a wonderful one. It started in 1903 and called Faith Cottage. Eliada was a home for unwed mothers. The home quickly grew to 5 cottages in the area. Founded by Reverend Lucius B. Compton, it served as a safe place for girls and women. Along with the home, he opened Eliada Home, an orphanage for the children. The name Eliada comes from the Bible. He was one of King David’s sons. The name means “one for whom God cares”. Lots of community children have been cared for by this organization for over 100 years.
