In every town in the country at some point in the year, there is a festival. Many of us love going to them for not only celebrating the event but just getting out and being with other people. For some of us, we only like attending certain festivals. They may be art festivals or music festivals or food type festivals. Here in Western North Carolina, we love celebrating just about anything and enjoy putting on a festival to do so. We at Orchard Inn love the upcoming season of Asheville NC festivals and would love to share with you some of the ones that we look forward to each year.
Trailfest: As you may know, one of the most popular activities here is to go hiking so why wouldn’t one of our top Asheville NC festivals be Trailfest? Trailfest is held each spring in Hot Springs and it celebrates not only our love for the local trails but mainly Appalachian Trail that runs through the main street. Join others at this free festival that includes bicycling, yoga, music, crafts, and much more!
French Broad River Festival: This one is also located in Hot Springs and the French Broad River is an important part of Asheville as well. This festival has so many things going on during the weekend. There are white water rafting races, bike races, music, food, and more. You do have to purchase tickets to this festival but many of the proceeds go back into the community.
Downtown After Five Concerts: Of all of the Asheville NC festivals, this one is the most casual. It happens 5 times over the course of the spring and summer and is a free outdoor concert series that takes place on North Lexington Ave. in downtown Asheville. Of course, you can purchase beer from the local breweries and the proceeds from the wristbands go back to local non-profits. Food vendors will also be there so you are sure to have an amazing time.
Asheville Beer Week: As you may already know, Asheville is a haven for beer lovers. So of course, there will be Asheville NC festivals to celebrate it. There are small breweries and larger ones as well. Each year there is Asheville Beer Week in the late spring where there will be tastings as well as speakers who can educate you on the many aspects of beer. At the end of Asheville Beer Week is Beer City Festival where you will have 30+ local breweries, music, food, and much more!
Lake Lure Arts Festival: Located just a bit away is Lake Lure where not only do they have wonderful things to do but great festivals. Each spring and fall they have the Lake Lure Arts Festival which brings local artisans together each a craftsman in many mediums. Admission is free but be sure to bring a wallet!
Grandfather Mountain Highland Games: Each year at Grandfather Mountain, members of Scottish clans from near and far come together to not only meet and greet with each other but also participate in fun highland games. You will hear bagpipes, see sheep being herded, hear live music, and see many men in kilts.
Asheville Food & Wine Festival: Of all of the Asheville NC festivals, the Asheville Food & Wine Festival is one of the most popular. Each spring there are 3 days that the residents of Asheville are indulging in some amazing food. Local and regional chefs pull out all the stops to create an experience unlike any other.
