While winter in in full blast here at Orchard Inn we are looking forward to the sunshine and warmth that comes with the spring seasons. One of the best parts about spring here in Western North Carolina is the flowers. We have hundreds of miles of trails crisscrossing throughout our area and in the spring they all come alive with flowers leading hikers where to go. Since the weather warms up, us locals love to get out and celebrate. For travelers however, you may not know what is going on in our amazing area. So, here is our list of fantastic things to do in Asheville NC in April.
Things to do in Asheville NC in April
First in our list of things to do in Asheville NC in April is to plan to celebrate Easter with us in Asheville. This first event takes an Easter egg hunt to a new level with having it at The Biltmore. On April 5th, dress your best and bring your children to participate in a truly amazing egg hunt. Hunts are at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm and it will be a treat to watch them on the gorgeous grounds of The Biltmore. Another fun part of this event is a special appearance by the Easter Rabbit himself. After you are done hunting, feel free to enjoy the rest of your day exploring the rest of what The Biltmore has to offer.
Next in our list of things to do in Asheville NC in April is amazing and it’s free. Yes, those 2 words can be in the same sentence and be true. In the spring we love it when our Western NC Farmers Market in Asheville opens back up. There is something about fresh food plucked straight from the garden that gives you a sense of not only freshness but ties you back to a time when supermarkets didn’t exist and this was the only way to get food. The Western NC Farmers Market puts event on throughout the year that are always free and are always a great time. In April, they host a BBQ Cook-off and Bluegrass Jam. This family-friendly event is perfect for those who love great food and beautiful music. Come down and get some lunch and see if your favorite pit master wins this year.
Our next idea of things to do in Asheville NC in April is to help us celebrate our great planet at our annual Earth Day extravaganza. While this year’s Earth Day celebration in Asheville doesn’t have a date set yet, the plans for the activities are already in full swing. The Earth Day party will last all day and be held in the heart of downtown Asheville. While the main premise for this event is fun for the family, another major part of it is promoting a green lifestyle for individuals and families. For some, having real solutions and products to look at and try out will be the push they need to switch to a healthier, and Earth friendly, way of life.
To round out the month, our last choice in things to do in Asheville NC in April is a race. But, not just any race, this is Asheville after all, a race featuring beer. Join fellow race runners at Highland Brewing’s tap room for a fun afternoon of racing. Runners will be delighted in the course of the race as it will feature a lot of Asheville’s rugged terrain that surrounds Highland’s brewery. After the race, enjoy some amazing beers and local food trucks helping all of the runners refuel after their race.
As you can see, there are so many things to do in Asheville in April that it will certainly be a busy month. While it may seem like a good idea to stay right in the heart of it all, consider staying with us at Orchard Inn in nearby Saluda.
