Summer camps are a favorite for parents because it gives a chance for kids to make lifetime friendships and memories while teaching them some core life lessons. Luckily, there are a few Christian camps in NC near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains that combine the outdoors as well as essential Christian values.

One Christian camp for boys and girls is Camp Wayfarer in Flat Rock, NC. The camp was founded in 1992 and has campers aged from 6 to 17. The counselors do their very best to surround the campers with a healthy and Christian atmosphere so they can learn new social and physical skills that will help prepare them for their adult Christian life. The camp has flexible dates and rates to accommodate any kind of camper. They have programs that go for a few weeks and others that can keep your camper having fun for up to six weeks.

If you would like to have your little girl only with other young ladies, then Camp Greystone is the Christian camp for her! Located in Tuxedo, NC, this camp houses girls from ages 5 to 17. The Miller family has been helping mold and shape future Christian women for four generations. Since 1920, they have perfected their summer program to address the spiritual, physical, and mental aspects of a young girl’s life. Not only do they have everyday activities like horseback riding and knitting, there are also camp-specific events like Derby Day and Breakfast Club that will make the summer fly by for your little ladies.

Does your boy think girls have cooties? Falling Creek Camp is a place where he can just be a boy! This Christian camp is located in Tuxedo, NC and also embodies all of the Christian values that will help shape your boy into a good man who loves God. The sessions at Falling Creek can last from 1 to 4 weeks and accepts boys in the 1st through 10th grades. This facility also has some special events that can be attended singly or in addition to a summer program. One such event is their FCC Expeditions which are week-long adventures that focus on one activity. Some examples are mountain biking, paddling, and climbing. The other special event is their Father/Son weekend which is offered to Kindergarteners on up.

Besides which camp to pick, the only other thing to plan would be where to stay after you drop off your children. Located 15 minutes or less from each of these Christian camps in NC is a serene bed and breakfast near Asheville called The Orchard Inn. Anxiety levels can be high for both parents and children when being separated for any length of time, and the husband and wife team at the Orchard Inn can melt the stress away!
